Serving the people of
Santa Fe County
Welcome to the League of Women Voters of Santa Fe County
The League of Women Voters, a nonpartisan political organization, encourages informed and active participation in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy.
April Unit/General Meeting, Wednesday, April 16, 11:45am at the Unitarian Church
In our final unit meeting of the League year, our two speakers will discuss the current status of civil liberties, including the Patriot Act and how it actually affects us here in Santa Fe. Diane Wood of the Northern New Mexico ACLU and Susie Sonfleith of the Santa Fe Public Libraries will give us an update on the Patriot Act and its original and current local impact.
Many of us are terribly concerned about apparent threats to civil liberties at the national level, as LWVUS president Mary G. Wilson has testified before congressional committees several times on this subject. We have all read about warrantless wiretapping and other troubling developments. But what is actually happening here in Santa Fe County and northern New Mexico? Come find out!
We hope our usual attendees on Monday evening and Saturday morning will be able to come on Wednesday. Due to speaker availability, we are not able to provide those units this month.
Bring your lunch, or call the office, 982-9766, to order a sandwich from Mucho Gourmet Sandwich Shop.
Cost for a sandwich or wrap, chips, drink and cookie is $10.00.
Deadline for ordering is Monday, April 14.

and many others.

- Jack Kolkmeyer, Santa Fe County
- Reed Liming, City of Santa Fe
- Mary Helen Follingstad, Regional Planning Authority
- Steve Harris
